The Gritty Gambhir – last seen fighting bravely the pace of Steyn/Morkel in SA in Jan2011 . Please can you find him and return him to the Indian team in Aus
The Fiery Sehwag – last seen thrashing New Zealand in Ahmedabad in Nov2010. He has got lost in the land of Gandhi. We need our Machine Gun back not this Gandhian we are seeing currently in Aus.
The Solid Dravid – last seen saving India the blemishes at the Oval in England 2011. England please build your own Wall to compete with China, we need ours back to bounce off the Aussie pace.
The Elegant VVS – last seen relishing WI in WI and at Eden Gardens, Kolkatta. Aus is already here, someone please remind VVS he loves Aus and not WI – he cannot breakup with Aus after an affair of 10+ years.
Batsman at No6 – Missing in action since Saurav retired in 2008. Rohit/Kohli one of you please take charge and make it your own now!
The above people have been missing for long now, their fans are worried. If anyone of you happens to see them – please can you mail us at the following address:

Fair enough for this, but what about the one-who-should-not-be-criticized? The one who gets in every time, gets the feel of the bowling and the track, gets well into his 30s, 40s, 70s and then gives it away? Which itself is a cardinal sin for a Test batsman, and that too of his stature. The one for whom the whole of 1.5 billion India and it’s sickening media circus gives more coverage than the actual Test or series?
Also, when you have a walking wicket in the shape of Gambhir for quite some time, why is there such stubbornness to not do away with him and give the deserving ones a go? India’s problem seems to be the belief in these players that they can’t be replaced easily, hence the essence of intra-team competition is nullified. That’s harmful, for any sports side.
Masuud,
Well said, I avoided his name for the precise reason – then the post would’ve centered around him and his 100th 100 – I’m honestly tired of that circus .
But now that you mention maybe I should include that bit lying in my draft which I edited out thinking the following: 1) The 4 have been more responsible for turning around India’s fortunes in the last decade when it all seemed lost. 2) Sachin is still not looking out of form or scratchy or struggling for runs. Yes his failure to get big scores is still worrying no doubt
I hope this tour makes the selectors think about the big 3. Like the Aussies, we need to know when to drop players and groom the next great Indian batsmen. With Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Raina and Pujara waiting in the wings, we need to give them a chance. The failure in this test is as much about the bowling as it is about the batsmen. I can’t imagine how our bowling can be so horrible. This reminds me of the Eng series where we used to wait for Eng to declare. I think we bowled them out only once. Suddenly we have so many issues and to think this is a side that was a No.1 test side only a year ago!!
